About this experience

Schedule

  1. Meet at the Tajimaya Coffee House
  2. 17:00
    Tour Departure
  3. Omoide Yokocho
Omoide Yokocho ("memory lane") offers a nostalgic look back at post-World War II Tokyo. Many bars have been around the area since that time and stay true to their mid-20th-century atmosphere. Start off your foodie tour with a drink, some yakitori (chicken skewers) and a dose of fond nostalgia.
  4. Kabukicho
Don't let Kabukicho's reputation as a red light district intimidate you! Venture to the lively neighborhood and try some tonkotsu ramen (noodles in pork broth) and one more famous Japanese dish. Enjoy the bustling atmosphere and learn about the area's hidden gems from your guide.
  5. Golden Gai
Finally, head to the Golden Gai area where you will find clusters of izakaya and pubs. The area also has a 1950s feel but boasts a more expensive range of drinks and food belying its grungy facade. End the tour with some fresh local sushi then choose to continue on to a bar of your picking.
  6. Tour Ends in Tajimaya Coffee House

Towards, the end of the tour we went to the Golden Gai area, which is quite fascinating for tourists.

We dont write alot of reviews, but would highly recommend this tour, and in particular, we felt quite fortunate that our guide was Norma, as she was really very committed to ensuring that the group was enjoying both the tour and the food experience.

We had a wonderful introduction to the Golden Gai and tried food items we would have never thought to...our guide was interesting and fun...she shared the history of the area, interesting details of life in Tokyo, and took us to cool places we would have been too intimidated to go into on our own. I HIGHLY recommend booking a tour!
